An Evening with Bill Cosby

Bill Cosby
Bill Cosby comes to the Alabama Theatre for two shows on Saturday, February 17, 2012.

Join America's best known Doctor of Education and one of America's best known funny men as Miles College presents Bill Cosby for two shows at the Alabama Theatre on Friday, February 17, 2012. While he may be best known as the patriarch of the Huxtable clan on NBC's "The Cosby Show," Mr. Cosby's career stretches from 1960's era stand-up comedian to movies, television drama, children's television and social activism.

There is a show at 6:00pm and another at 8:30pm, with tickets available through the Alabama Theatre box office, all Ticketmaster outlets, ticketmaster.com or charge by phone at 800-745-3000.

Two Decades ago, Bill Cosby befriended Miles College at a time when community and corporate sectors lost faith with the Institution's ability to impact educational advancement. As a result of Mr. Cosby's philanthropy and the College's methodic leadership, corporate doors again opened and community support for Miles was at an all-time high.

As an integral part of the Birmingham and Alabama communities since 1898, Miles College continues its mission of producing educators, lawyers, and business professionals. Just as Miles has made an indelible touch on this community, we now ask you to go "Uptown Friday Night' and "Let's Do It Again" as we invite you to get a "Piece of the Action" by adding your personal touch with this event to strengthen this community jewel.

Join America's Favorite Dad and America's Iconic Comedians as Miles College Presents "An Evening Will Bill Cosby" for two shows at The Historic Alabama Theatre on Friday, February 17, 2012.

Charlie Chaplin. Groucho Marx. Richard Pryor.

Over the past century, few entertainers have achieved the legendary status of William H. Cosby Jr. His successes span five decades and virtually all media, remarkable accomplishments for a kid who emerged from humble beginnings in a Philly project.

In the 1960s, his stand-up act was a coast-to-coast sensation, spawning a string of hilarious, best-selling comedy albums, which went on to win eight Gold Records, five Platinum records and five Grammy Awards. His role on TV’s I Spy made him the first African-American to co-star in a dramatic series, breaking television’s racial barrier and winning three Emmy Awards. In the 1980s, he again rocked the television world with the The Cosby Show, a gentle, whimsical and hugely successful series that single-handedly revived the family sitcom (and rescued NBC).

With hit movies like Uptown Saturday Night and best-selling books like Fatherhood, Bill Cosby is quite simply a national treasure with the unique ability to touch people’s hearts.
